Welcome, welcome! My name is Isabella, and I am the artist behind the Gal in Kzoo.

I’m NOT a blogger by any stretch of the imagination, but I figured I would write a little something about the gal creating the pieces that lead you here!

I wear several hats before I consider my title of “artist.”

FIRST and FOREMOST. I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that God sent Jesus (His One and Only Son) to die on the cross for the sins of me, and everyone else in the world. I believe that I am a sinner, but I am shown the ultimate gift of love and grace because Jesus’s perfect sacrifice. Because of His death on the cross, I am able to come to Him daily in spirit and truth, confess my sins, and He cleanses me of my unrighteousness. I believe that His divine Word is the Bible and it is His instruction on how to live a life honoring to Him—and really, for that matter, living life to the absolute fullest. The personal relationship I have with the Lord Jesus is one I am so undeserving of, but am beyond grateful for. I am amazed at how the Lord of true peace is still at work in this chaotic world today, and can’t wait for eternity in His Kingdom.

SECOND. I am a wife to the best guy I know. My husband and I met at college, and it was definitely a love at first sight kind of deal *swoon*. Fun fact, I get really loud when I am nervous. So, my husband will always say he had no idea how a relationship with me was going to work, because on our first date I “yelled the whole time.” Whoops. But hey, it worked out.

THIRD. I am a mom to my favorite kids. My husband and I had a lot of fun adventures and travels before deciding to try for kids—and I can say that nothing truly compares with the journey of motherhood. I am a stay at home mom, and I love it. I love seeing and living every moment with my babies. I love the freedom of taking them to parks, museums, my parents’ house, the YMCA… while also loving the freedom of being able to just stay home and relax, recoup, prepare, or simply be. It’s not boring. It’s perfect, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

FOURTH. I am a sister to ten siblings (I count my in laws, too, because I love them just as much as I do my blood siblings), and a daughter to my parents and my in laws. I receive an abundance of love and support from each one of them, and am thankful beyond measure that the Lord is reigning over each one of their households.

FIFTH. I am a friend. I have always had waves of friends come in and out of my life. I moved quite a bit when I was younger, and never went to the same school for more than two years at a time (With the exception of high school—I moved after freshman year, so I spent sophomore-junior year at a ‘new school’). I am the friend that will always text, call, write a letter, do whatever it takes to stay in contact, even if life drifts us apart.

SIXTH. I am an artist. I guess we should get down to it, lol. My earliest memories of art take me back to sitting around my family’s kitchen table with my siblings. My dad had the old Disney How-To-Draw books opened in front of us, and he would help perfect our techniques after hours of drawing and sketching. The nights when our dad would draw with us were the BEST kinds of nights!! Years of training, classes, and practicing lead me to drawing and painting for other people here and there. After a while, I decided to open an Etsy shop and dedicate an Instagram handle to my work, and here we are!

Some random fun facts about me:

10. I do not enjoy reading, coffee, or cool cars. 9. I have enormous feet.

8. In high school, someone accidentally broke my jaw and now I can’t feel my chin.

7. I've been to four continents.

6. I started wearing bifocals in fourth grade.

5. I prefer leggings and really baggy sweatshirts, or the alternative—everything sequins and fur.

4. I’ve worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

3. I can walk on my toe knuckles.

2. The first thing I notice about someone is their mouth.

1. My siblings are all over the U.S., so time with them is my most favorite thing that I wish I could have more of.
